Daily Tip #4: Appreciate Your Supporters
Tuesday, October 18
Family, friends, and fans make up your support crew during marathon training and on race day. Show your appreciation:
- Connect your supporters to info, advice, and offers by having them register for Friends & Family Marathon Connection newsletters. Visit the Friends, Family, and Fans page to sign up and learn more.
- Plan to attend the Marathon Opening Ceremony Featuring the Parade of Nations and Inaugural Hall of Fame Presentation with them. New for 2011, this spectacular event will kick off Marathon Weekend on Friday night in Central Park, and all are welcome to watch the festivities!
- Enter them in a new race that’s just for them. The NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday, November 5, is for everyone. Participants receive a technical T-shirt and can cross the marathon finish line—without running 26.2 miles! Proceeds benefit the Central Park Conservancy. Info and registration
- Tell them they can visit the ASICS Your Marathoner page to record messages to you. Your fans can create videos and texts that will show up on large screens along the ING New York City Marathon course on race day. You can also visit the page to register your information and tell everyone to support you with a personalized message. Then check out those messages as you run on November 6!
- Surprise them with tickets for a great meal. The Marathon Eve Dinner at the Marathon Pavilion is right at the finish line on Saturday, November 5, and features carb-centric NYC specialties and entertainment provided by Clear Channel Radio. Purchase tickets at the expo.
- Treat them to Grandstand Seating on race day, so they can watch you finish from the best seats in the house!
- Get them the Mobile App and TrackMyRunner™ via SMS. Tell your supporters to find out all the ways they can Join In and catch the action throughout race week, wherever they’ll be.
- Buy them the Zzzz… shirt. Check out the Get the Zzzzz Marathon Shirt, guaranteed to get a laugh from any marathoner or devoted family member, and available in unisex and women's cut.
