Daily Tip #13: Race-Day Baggage and Getting to the Start

• Use the UPS bag ONLY. The official clear plastic UPS bag that you’ll pick up at the
• Pack light, but don’t forget essentials. Band-Aids and body lubricant can help prevent chafing and blisters. Reading material can calm your nerves. Extra clothes are a must: for the start, where it may well be cold and damp (you can donate extra items for recycling before you enter the corrals), for the course if the weather changes during the race, and to change into after you finish.
• Ensure a smooth journey to the start. Check your race number when you pick it up at the expo; if you registered for official marathon transportation, your assignment will be indicated in the lower left corner. If you need an assignment, you can get it at the expo. Plan to arrive at your assigned bus or ferry location at least 15 minutes early.
• Plan to check your bag no later than an hour and 20 minutes before your wave-start time, and listen to the announcements to enter your corral at the correct time for your start.
